Janus Henderson Investors Senior Operations Oversight Analyst in Luxembourg

The department

Global Operations oversees the outsourced administration for funds and provides support to the Janus Henderson Investment and Distribution teams.

Overview of the role

This is an oversight role covering Operations with a focus on Fund Accounting (FA) and the Third-Party Administrators (TPAs). The oversight includes day to day fund activities, the oversight of outsourced activities including Fund Accounting and Administration. The role will be performed within the existing framework of oversight, governance and relationship management and will monitor the delivery of services against agreed service levels and KPI’s.

The role oversees funds under the Luxembourg Management Company, Henderson Management SA (“HMSA”). These funds include Luxembourg SICAVs, Irish Funds and European Alternative funds.

The role also includes the provision of support to the HMSA Conducting Officer (CO) responsible for Operations and Distribution Oversight (e.g. from a reporting and procedures perspective).

Duties and responsibilities

HMSA Reporting and Procedures

  • Support the CO in the delivery of reporting to HMSA Management Committee and Manco/AIFM and Fund Boards covering Operations and TPAs

  • Understand Circular 18/698 and any other regulation as applicable and incorporating requirements into oversight and operating model

  • Development, review (at least annually) and implementation where necessary of Operational procedures and policies

  • Assessment and evolution of Operational KPIs with internal and external delegates (including the Third Party Administrators)

  • Coordinate local regulatory reporting (Operational) as and when required in coordination with Global Operations / Compliance teams

  • Provide support to the Head of Operations and Distribution for projects

  • Maintain log of operations activity and delivery dates

  • Minutes any meetings as appropriate

TPA Oversight

  • Oversee fund accounting deliverables including final valuation and NAV sign off using pControl NAV Oversight tool

  • Oversee fund accounting and financial reporting including review of final financial statements , review auditor management letter, Sign off fund invoices and maintain fund expenses log

  • Assist JHI Financial Reporting team with the preparation of fund budgets and monitor the fund/share class OCF and present findings to the CO

  • Oversee pricing error and incidents ensuring that the local applicable regulations (including CSSF 2002/77) are applied where appropriate

  • Develop good working relationship with the TPA client service and relationship management team

  • Manage and resolve queries from internal and external parties and with the TPAs

  • Perform standardized TPA monitoring and due diligence oversight and reviews, both desk based and on site at TPAs where appropriate

  • Work with the wider team to ensure standards, SLAs and operating models are best practice, standardized across product types and meet local requirements

  • Oversee fund changes and projects e.g. product change, large subscriptions and redemptions

  • Provide back-up and assistance for the wider team in regards to the oversight of the Transfer Agency, Middle Office or Distribution Oversight.

Other

  • Keep abreast of any new industry developments/trends and communicate these to the wider team

  • Adhere to TCF principles and complete relevant reporting

  • Work closely within the TPA Governance framework and provide TPA Governance Reporting and operational MI

  • Travel to Ireland and the UK is anticipated for participation in team meetings and TPA due diligence

  • Participate in any client operational due diligence meetings as required

Technical skills and qualifications

  • Experience of a Management Company, including excellent reporting skills for operational reporting to committees and boards

  • Good working knowledge of investment funds and products and their distribution

  • Excellent knowledge of Luxembourg or Ireland regulatory framework

  • Strong background in controls and problem solving

  • Good Fund Accounting oversight skills

  • Good general IT skills including PowerPoint, Excel and database used for analysis and reporting purposes

  • Graduate or equivalent preferred

  • Relevant industry qualification e.g. IMC/ IOC (formerly IAQ) or other local qualifications beneficial
