The department

The Performance team is responsible for the calculation and analysis of performance for all of JHI’s funds under management and the distribution of this data within the business.

Janus Henderson operates an outsourced model in partnership with our Third-Party Administrators (TPA). The primary focus of the Operations team is the oversight and management of the TPAs as well as supporting internal clients (for example the Distribution and Investment teams). Operations also support numerous projects and operational changes to maintain best practice operational processes.

Overview of the role

The successful candidate will be responsible for the production of a wide array of reporting supporting our hedge fund mandates, including performance, attribution and client reporting. In addition, the role will include a significant amount of project work, in particular assisting with the enhancement of our Multi Strategy reporting capabilities alongside other initiatives.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Produce accurate, timely and relevant regular and ad-hoc analysis for hedge fund mandates.

  • Awareness of and ability to deal with complex data issues, escalating to internal / external parties where necessary.

  • Establish and maintain regular communications with Distribution, IT, Front Office, other stakeholders, decision-makers, department heads and end-users.

  • Utilise expertise across asset classes to continually improve attribution and reporting capabilities.

  • Liaise with performance outsource provider to ensure integrity of reports and adherence to deadlines, continues to be maintained.

  • Complete ongoing adherence to regulatory changes and maintenance of the firms GIPS compliance.

  • Assist in management of team deadlines.

  • Develop personal profile, be proactive with your own training and strive to challenge and improve processes.

    Technical skills and qualifications

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent in a numerical subject or similar.

  • Prior experience in investment performance covering asset classes such as equities, fixed income and derivatives preferred.

  • Experience of using software including, FactSet, Vermilion, DataStream, Bloomberg, Imagine and CAPS.

  • Experience of interacting with fund managers, client directors, external clients and agencies.

  • Advanced level of Excel skills.

  • Experience using DataStream, Bloomberg and index vendor websites.
