The Department

Janus Henderson’s Global Trading team is responsible for executing orders on behalf of Janus Henderson’s Portfolio Managers. They are based across the globe and are able to provide expert knowledge across all asset classes and markets in which Janus Henderson’s funds operate.

Overview of the Role

You will support the team with data analysis, ad hoc projects and general assistance. After receiving sufficient training, the role will evolve to execute orders on behalf of Fund Managers, ensuring efficiency and optimising investment decisions. You will also provide Fund Managers with market commentary and information regarding liquidity, sentiment and volatility.

All areas of FI dealing.

Duties and Responsibilities

You will:

  • Support the trading desk and global department with assistance on ad-hoc projects, predominantly data analysis, measurement and reporting

  • Use data analysis skillset to develop, enhance and support global Janus Henderson FI trading team on specific project and help optimize the trading process

  • Train as a Fixed Income Dealer, develop a broad, and in depth knowledge of FI markets

  • Liaise both internally, with fund managers and analysts, and externally, with brokers, to develop relationships and gather relevant market information

  • Once fully trained, execute trades on behalf of fund managers, adhering to Best Execution principles

  • Liaise with brokers and counterparties to help gain market information

  • Where relevant, conduct Transaction Cost Analysis on trading activity

  • Carry out additional duties as assigned

Technical Skills and Qualifications

  • Typically IMC or CFA (or studying towards)

  • Typically degree educated in business, maths or finance discipline

  • Some experience in a similar role would be desirable

  • Ability to code in Python, and/or VBA, building Macros in Excel

  • Experience of statistics and data analysis

  • Microsoft office skills to include Excel, Word and PowerPoint

  • Annual Performance Appraisal

For those in scope of Knowledge & Competence (MiFID II)

  • Knowledge of financial markets, financial markets function and the impact of economic figures and national/regional/global events on markets

  • Understanding of issues relating to market abuse and anti-money laundering
