The department

The Global Technology department plays a crucial role in supporting the success of the business. We are responsible for developing and implementing state-of-the-art software and hardware maintenance to support our fund management, trading, distribution and operational areas with secure, stable and resilient technology platforms.

Overview of the role

As an IT Project Management Office Consultant, you will work within the Technology and Change Project Management Office (PMO) team. The team currently comprises 3 people with responsibility for governance and reporting on global Technology and Change projects.

Duties and responsibilities

You will be responsible for:

  • Project data – ensuring the PPM tool is maintained and all project information is up to date and accurate.

  • Business Intelligence (BI) – producing portfolio status reports and BI, ensuring accurate high-quality data, liaising with project managers to resolve any queries.

  • Financial Management – maintaining financial performance data on projects, supporting project managers to track against budgets, liaising with Finance on reporting of actuals and forecasts, resolving queries, supporting the AP / invoicing tracking process.

  • Change Control – maintenance of baseline data on all projects and logging of approved changes.

  • Governance – maintaining project governance documentation and templates, improving governance processes in line with project management best practice, inductions for new project managers, ensuring governance guidelines are adhered to and providing support for project managers.

  • Resource Planning – supporting resource planning, ensuring the list of projects and resources is kept up to date and resolution of any issues.

  • PMO Maturity – take a proactive role in supporting the development of PMO processes and maturity in line with best practice, for example maturing processes around resource planning, project prioritization, pipeline management, financials reporting, process automation/streamlining.

  • Training – Training and coaching of project managers and Technology staff on PMO processes and tooling.

  • Carrying out additional duties as assigned.

Technical skills and qualifications

  • Experience working in a PMO or providing Portfolio Governance is desirable. Strong interest in working in a PMO is essential

  • Project management experience desirable

  • Advanced Excel and MS Office skills

  • PM qualifications (PMP, Scrum, or Prince2) beneficial

  • Experience using a PPM tool beneficial

  • Experience using a Business Intelligence (BI) and reporting tool beneficial
