Overview of the role

While reporting to the Global Head of Payroll, you will provide a hands-on focus primarily responsible for the international payrolls, with emphasis in EU payrolls, and also serve as a backup for the UK payroll team, including accountability of all associated compliance and statutory reporting activities. You will have experience and good working knowledge of international & UK payrolls. This position also requires strong technical and business process skills and the ability to interact at all levels of the organization. You will continually execute the company’s overall strategy in delivering accurate and timely payrolls, while also ensuring legislative changes are adopted and implemented. You will have a very strong sense of integrity, work ethics, efficiency, analytical skills, organizational skills with a positive and a “can do” attitude.

Duties and responsibilities

Core Duties are:

You will:

  • Partner with HR & external payroll vendors & payroll management to ensure all EU pay data are handled timely

  • Detailed knowledge and understanding of EU payrolls

  • Ensure payrolls are processed timely & employees are paid accurately

  • Must be willing to learn non-EU country payrolls to achieve team’s overall goals and strategic planning

  • Be responsible for providing backup and review support for UK payroll, working closely with the UK payroll staff, management and cross-functional teams

  • Ensure that the UK payroll is compliant with the local regulatory requirements & established SOX controls; provide support during SOX audits if required as a backup

  • Ability to apply best practices in support/review of salary sacrifice schemes, share vestings, benefits, BIK, PAYE & NI taxes, payroll filings, including leaver forms and YE filings

  • Perform regular reconciliations of payroll data

    Additional Duties:

  • Identify, investigate, and resolve discrepancies in payroll records

  • Communicate with professionalism, accuracy & responsiveness

  • Provide proactive & timely support to our internal employees, while maintaining open communications

  • Execute operational excellence by following established processes, along with making suggestions when gaps are identified

  • Work closely with the Global Head of Payroll in mitigating risks identified, while ensuring end to end processes are accurately documented and followed

  • Provide assistance to the Global Head of Payroll and Global Head of Tax, in responding to inquiries from the authorities as deemed necessary by management

  • Support internal and external audits as needed

  • Honour confidentiality of employees' pay records

  • Support cross-training and redistribution of work when required within payroll

  • Carry out additional duties as assigned (e.g., new projects, report requests, global mobility transfers, etc.)

    Technical skills and qualifications

  • Substantial direct experience in UK payroll

  • Significant global payroll experience and EU payrolls

  • GCSEs (A* to C), or equivalent

  • Previous experience working with payroll outsourced vendor

  • SAP or ECP platform experience is beneficial

  • Certification in local or global payroll is beneficial

  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel & other MS Office Suite products

  • Must be a self-starter with the ability to work with little supervision and exercise good judgment

  • Functional global payroll knowledge required

  • Ability to participate & provide guidance in cross-functional team meetings and projects

    Ongoing competence in the role to be assessed, in line with applicable regulatory requirements, by:

  • Annual performance appraisal

  • Completion of all assigned compliance training
