The corporate communications team is responsible for Janus Henderson’s external communications – this involves managing Janus Henderson’s public brand and reputation via media and journalist engagement. The team currently consists of four people.
The purpose of this role is to implement public relations strategies for Janus Henderson Investors, across its core asset classes including equities, fixed income, multi-asset and alternatives.
The responsibilities are primarily centred on Janus Henderson’s core European and Latin American markets. The European PR Executive would be expected to take a supportive role in managing the PR agency relationships across continental Europe.
Overview of the Role
We are seeking a European PR Executive to work within the London based press team. The role will involve supporting the daily activity of the global communications team, as well as our external communications activity. Reporting to the Head of European and LatAm PR, the role is integral to the overall success of the team.
Duties and Responsibilities
Maintain the brand recognition and reputation management of Janus Henderson Investors across continental European markets via public relations activity.
Promote the product range throughout its core markets and to assist and support our retained agency relationships in those markets.
Provide day to day agency liaison.
Write press releases, and press statements and manage translation services
Assist and support local press events.
Collaborate with other marketing communications functions across the business to assist in idea generation.
Encourage our investment managers and spokespeople to engage with the media to meet local PR objectives in the following jurisdictions:
Support our quarterly thought leadership report, the Janus Henderson Global Dividend Index, including; attending meetings with fund managers, proof reading the report, ad hoc tasks related to the report creation and delivery, arranging meetings and booking the relevant spokespeople for media work.
Manage the daily coverage clippings globally and issue our internal daily news round up.
Manage and issue the weekly internal news round up for continental Europe.
Manage the global bi-weekly news highlights internal email for all employees.
Save the global coverage in appropriate folders.
Where necessary working with Globelynx bids and ensuring that the fund manager is camera ready.
Manage and maintain the press sections of local language websites across Europe.
Provide day-to-day media liaison with our local PR agencies or directly with journalists.
Organise internal/external meetings as required and write up minutes.
Assist with the planning, delivery and execution of the European press day.
Technical Skills and Qualifications
Previous experience in financial services public relations is essential, ideally within asset management.
European languages are essential specifically – German, Italian, or French as well as strong English language skills.
Proven writing skills.
Experience of managing agencies in different jurisdictions.
Knowledge and experience of continental European media both online and traditional media.
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent.
Good Microsoft Office skills.
Experience of using the following systems/tools advantageous:
Excellent interpersonal skills and strong communicator.
Strong track record of working with PR agencies, able to execute and deliver media objectives.
Experience of working on multiple language projects.
Attention to detail, strong organisational skills, and diligence are all a must.
Ability to plan, prioritise and work efficiently where necessary.
