This role will be supporting a cross functional ESG change initiative between Investments and Distribution
The Investment teams offer expertise across all major asset classes, and are situated around the world. These dynamic teams are structured and operate in ways that are best suited to their asset classes and manage products designed to meet a range of investor needs globally. We do not impose top-down house views; instead we allow an appropriate level of flexibility within a controlled environment and encourage the sharing and debate of investment ideas. Our Investment teams are grouped under: Equities, Fixed Income, Multi-Assets and Alternatives.
The Distribution team is responsible for the marketing, promotion and ongoing development of our product offering, for both institutional and intermediary channels globally. Distribution is a trusted partner to our clients, and we enable investment solutions through active management. Areas within Distribution consist of Sales, Global Marketing, Global Product and Investment Trusts.
The Business Change and Transformation department has central oversight, coordination and overall delivery responsibility for major global Corporate, People and Regulatory transformation initiatives.
The team leads a global portfolio of change, managing interdependencies, resource demand, risks, issues, communications and ensures return on investment.
The department also acts as an in-house consultancy function with a central pool of resource that can be deployed to projects as and when needs arise.
Overview of the role
This role will be focused on the integration of Environmental, Social and Corporate Governance across the JHI business. The overall goal is to plan and oversee ESG change projects across the business. To support the ESG Integration Office in order to ensure that all ESG change initiatives are coordinated, managed and delivered to plan and budget with a strong focus on managing interdependencies between multiple workstreams.
Duties and responsibilities
Define, develop and maintain appropriate plans for the life of the projects, with associated resource and budget planning
Control the scope of projects and programmes, managing dependencies including assessing regulatory requirements and ensuring that these are met
Adhere to the change and transformation project lifecycle, including maintenance of plans, briefs, risks and issues, dependency tracking and other relevant reporting artefacts (including the preparation of key project documentation/templates as required)
Create project organization/structure, including roles and responsibilities and governance
Drive stakeholder engagement across projects, and develop and deliver an effective communication plan both externally and internally
Chair Working Group(s) as required, present progress, highlight issues, challenge and drive decisions – ensure relevant content is brought to the groups for discussion
Drive and deliver SteerCo preparation including decks and agendas
Ensure any resources including external vendors are managed and resourced to be able to deliver successfully. Drive prioritization as appropriate
Develop and manage project costs
Represent the firm on industry forums where appropriate
- None but will need to co-ordinate workstream leads
Technical skills and qualifications
Robust and proven track record as a project and/or programme manager.
Strong leader, equally comfortable facing off to Working and Steering Groups, challenging stakeholders, directing and motivating a cross-business team.
Must be comfortable coordinating and leading matrixed team.
Strong Microsoft office skills including Teams, Project, Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
Aligned Project Certifications.
Highly organised with excellent communication skills.
Excellent stakeholder management skills – the ability to work across all levels of the organization.
A rolled-up sleeve positive and delivery focused approach.
ESG experience an advantage, subject matter understanding is important
Background in financial services (ideally asset management)
Able to work in a matrix management environment
Ongoing competence in the role to be assessed, in line with applicable regulatory requirements, by:
Annual performance appraisal

Annual attestation (Knowledge and Competence in-scope roles only)
