Overview of the Role
You will design, develop, maintain and support Janus Henderson WordPress websites. You will be responsible for developing solutions for all tiers of the application; framework, controls, middle-tier business components, database layer, etc. You will also participate in formulating standards and development practices.
Duties and Responsibilities
Design, develop, and maintain software to support multiple consumer web sites
Participate in the Agile development process
Coordinate and participate in Architecture and Design discussions
Provide technical expertise to explain short and long term impacts of decisions
Debug and fix software defects
Perform code reviews for team mates
Provide 1st tier support for developed applications
Work in individual and team environments
Experience with WordPress CMS
Carry out additional duties as assigned
Technical Skills and Qualifications
CSS (SASS, LESS), HTML development
WordPress themes and frontend plugin development
Web MVC patterns and concepts
Responsive design and UX best practices
Web Services (REST, SOAP, etc ..) and integration of Web Services with Web Sites
Understanding of http request and response mechanisms such as forwards, redirects, browser certificates, cookies and Ajax
Understanding of web security principles such as cross-site scripting and session management
Design and Process
Candidate must have a strong understanding of UI, cross-browser compatibility, general web functions and standards.
Analytical skills – should be able to identify multiple solutions to the same problem and ability to explain advantages/disadvantages of each
Ability to implement websites based on prototype designs
Experience developing and designing solutions that contribute to massively scalable, secure, high availability environments.
Software Development Process
Iterative/Agile development methods
Understanding of source code control processes and release management
Experience in full SDLC
Ability to successfully work at high intellectual levels in an environment with high expectations where priorities and projects are constantly dynamic.
Teamwork and collaboration – ability to accept and offer constructive criticism of designs/implementation
Proven ability to manage multiple assignments, priorities, and projects in a demanding environment
Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills, demonstrating the ability to communicate technology concepts to all personnel.
Ability to dive into new technologies and independently learn languages as needed across multiple platforms.
Flexible and Adaptable
5+ years of professional experience developing web-based applications.
3+ years developing WordPress websites
Bachelor’s degree desired with an emphasis in graphic arts, multimedia, or web design.
Working Environment/Physical Activities:
PC usage up to 100% of the time.
Basic office equipment such as telephone, copier, and fax machines, etc.
Cellular phone or digital pager will be worn
May be required to work in excess of 40 hours per week and may include weekend/evening/holiday hours.
For those in scope of Knowledge & Competence (MiFID II)
Knowledge of financial markets, financial markets function and the impact of economic figures and national/regional/global events on markets
Understanding of issues relating to market abuse and anti-money laundering
Ongoing competence in the role to be assessed by:
Annual Performance Appraisal
Completion of all assigned Compliance training
Annual Attestation (Knowledge and Competence in-scope roles only)
