The department
Janus Henderson operates an outsourced model in partnership with our Third-Party Administrators (TPA). The primary focus of the Operations team is the oversight and management of the TPAs as well as supporting internal clients (for example the Distribution and Investment teams). Operations also support numerous projects and operational changes to maintain best practice operational processes.
Overview of the role
The Global Pricing Team analyzes assets to ensure appropriate valuations are applied. This includes equity, fixed income, derivatives (exchange traded and over-the-counter), and private placement securities. The team is responsible for the oversight of asset pricing completed at the outsourced Third-Party Administrators as well as fair valuation determinations. You will support the global business and facilitate growth by ensuring a risk-based approach to valuation. Key internal clients include Fund Managers, Trading, Product, and Risk & Compliance. Our team also has key relationships with JHI’s Third Party Administrators and outsourced providers whose services we supervise.
Duties and responsibilities
You will:
Develop and review valuation models based on market data and security/issue comparable and provide valuation recommendations
Prepare and present valuation matters to the regional pricing committee meetings
Research and resolve pricing discrepancies through analysis and work with third party vendors as needed
Create, document, maintain, challenge and recommend improvements to process flows
Complete price verification including the calculation of fair value adjustments
Answer questions from auditors and internal parties regarding asset valuation
Partner with various functional groups on valuation related issues and develop/implement appropriate measures to ensure fair value
Improve existing control frameworks and manage all aspects of service providers by reviewing TPA pricing processes, Service Level Agreements, Key Performance Indicators and associated reporting
Carry out additional duties as assigned
Technical skills and qualifications
Analytical approach with good problem-solving skills
Highly organized and excellent follow through skills
Some understanding of financial instruments (fixed income, equity, derivatives) and valuation concepts with an interest to learn financial markets and how the markets and market news impact valuation
Able to coordinate and track multiple threads of activity, deliver on tight timelines, hands-on approach to resolving issues and detail orientation
Able to work independently, gather information, make decisions and get results
Proven to be highly motivated with enthusiasm to learn the business and the clients we support
The ability to drive discussions with multiple groups across different business areas including traders, operations, controllers and technology to create business requirements specifications
Highly flexible and adaptable to a changing environment
Collaborate and work with multiple time zones and team members in different regions to deliver results in a truly global organization
Strong Excel skills preferred
Minimum 2 – 3 years of relevant experience

Compensation Information
The base salary range for this position is $75,000 - $90,000. This range is estimated for this role. Actual pay may be different.

Annual Bonus Opportunity: Position is eligible to receive an annual discretionary bonus award from the profit pool. The profit pool is funded based on Company profits. Individual bonuses are determined based on Company, department, team and individual performance.
