The Janus Henderson Portfolio Construction and Strategy (PCS) team is situated within Global Marketing and provides educational insights to our clients through proprietary analytics, thought leadership, and frequent in-person engagements. The client benefit is a better understanding of their own asset allocations and the sharing of our firm’s knowledge and insights. Our team is critical to a sophisticated, consultative sales process. We are offered to clients as a product agnostic, objective service and we are an engine of thought leadership that is fully integrated with Distribution and Marketing. A successful Senior Portfolio Strategist combines a sophisticated, rigorous, analytical skillset with a strong suite of communication skills to engage with clients and internal teams on a wide variety of strategic asset allocation, tactical allocation, manager implementation, and macroeconomic projects.
Overview of the role
As Senior Portfolio Strategist, your primary responsibility is to be an asset allocation and portfolio implementation subject matter specialist and engage with your clients in this capacity. You will communicate both on the phone and in person to build and deliver customized portfolio analysis presentations and be responsible for client- facing content and thought leadership generation, to be delivered through various methods including in-person presentations, articles and blog posts. You will be expected to attend client meetings and conference presentations, as well as work with our Technology partners to craft and implement scalable, client-facing portfolio analysis tools and presentations.
Duties and responsibilities
Be primarily focused on our intermediary clients located in the U.S., with additional opportunity for global client coverage
Work closely and travel with our sales team to drive client engagement through both individual client meetings, small group presentations, and appearance at industry conferences
Provide and present customized asset allocation analytics
Partner with sales and technology resources to improve Janus Henderson's Portfolio Construction and Strategy offerings and deliverables dependent on client needs
Contribute concepts and ideas for client-facing content and thought leadership
Research industry standard methodologies surrounding portfolio construction techniques, risk metrics, and evolving trends
Use PCS deliverables to help implement strategies that deliver results on target with client investment objectives
Work with sales to identify potential fit for Janus Henderson strategies both pre- and post-client engagement
Seek opportunities to actively promote products and drive sales
Stay current on capital markets and industry trends to further subject matter expertise in portfolio strategy
Carry out additional duties as assigned
Technical skills and qualifications
Multi-asset experience as a portfolio construction subject matter specialist, multi-asset client portfolio manager, or multi-asset product manager
Extensive client-facing experience with intermediary clients, including both individual client meetings and large group presentations, individual teams and home office engagements
Minimum 5-10 years’ experience
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent
CFA, or progress toward CFA, preferred
In addition to putting clients first, acting like an owner, and succeeding as a team, the competencies for this role include:
Deep experience with asset management industry, including knowledge of Distribution channels such as institutional, adviser-driven, platform placement and/or insurance, with the ability to quickly learn key drivers and needs of other channels
Extensive Excel and PowerPoint skills
Coding experience a plus
Comfort with detailed data analysis, from sources including Morningstar Direct, Bloomberg, FactSet, and eVestment
Experience with international markets is a plus
Ongoing competence in the role to be assessed, in line with applicable regulatory requirements, by:
Annual performance appraisal
Completion of all assigned compliance training
At a minimum the role will require you to:

The base salary range for this position is $150,000 to $175,000. This range is estimated for this role. Actual pay may be different.
Annual Bonus Opportunity: Position is eligible to receive an annual discretionary bonus award from the profit pool. The profit pool is funded based on Company profits. Individual bonuses are determined based on Company, department, team and individual performance.
