Overview of the Role

This investment writer role is key to implementing the Janus Henderson newsroom approach to content delivery. Responsibilities include writing and editing investment and investment product communications, including portfolio manager insights, macroeconomic commentary, market updates, and portfolio-specific commentaries and shareholder letters. The role will require a flexible approach to content delivery through quick-turn pieces such as blog posts and videos, and longer form content including briefs and white papers, as well as webcasts and podcasts. The investment writer will perform research to support content development, including conducting portfolio manager and analyst interviews; gathering and interpreting financial data; and analyzing portfolio attribution. The investment writer will take content from concept through to completion, including coordination of necessary compliance reviews and oversight of the production process to ensure timely delivery. Gaining a broad understanding of Janus Henderson’s priority products and building relationships with key stakeholders across investments, marketing and distribution will be critical to success. This role will assist Senior Investment Writers in the development, editing and adaptation of thought leadership content and other tasks as requested.

The role would suit a candidate with strong financial writing skills, an eye for a story and a keen interest in investments and economics. It will mean working closely with sales and marketing teams across the business to ensure a holistic view of client needs and how best to employ effective marketing techniques.

Duties and Responsibilities

You will:

  • Write and edit copy for a variety of investment communications, including macroeconomic commentary and market updates, portfolio-specific commentaries and shareholder letters

  • Perform research to support content development: conduct portfolio manager and analyst interviews, fact check statements and references, gather and interpret financial data and analyze portfolio attribution

  • Work in partnership with the investment teams and other members of the content team to write and produce monthly, quarterly, semi-annual and annual portfolio manager commentary and shareholder letters; customize content to meet client-specific reporting requirements

  • Follow market and economic trends and proactively communicate the investment team’s views on timely investment topics.

  • Provide copyediting for articles, papers and core collateral and across a variety of mediums, including web, social media, print, audio/video and webcasts

  • Take content from concept through completion, including coordination of necessary compliance reviews and oversight of the production process to ensure timely delivery

  • Provide fact checking, copyediting and production support for articles, papers and core collateral across digital, print and non-U.S. versions of publications

  • Understand compliance requirements across the various distribution channels and help ensure all requirements are met

  • Ensure familiarity with Janus Henderson’s financial promotions/literature principles and processes, as well as guidance from compliance. Ensure appropriate checks and sign off procedures are adhered to at all times

  • Carry out additional duties as assigned

Technical Skills and Qualifications

  • Educated to degree level, with finance, economics or similar relevant degree

  • 1-2 years of related experience required

  • Excellent knowledge of investments and financial markets

  • Financial writing experience or journalism background (ideally with a financial publication) preferred

  • Proficient in Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Familiarity with Bloomberg and InCopy idealWorking Environment/Physical Activities

  • Typical office environment with PC, telephone, copier, fax machine, etc.

  • PC usage up to 80% of the time
