Overview of the Role

This investment writer role is key to implementing the Janus Henderson newsroom approach to content delivery. The role will mean gaining a broad understanding of Janus Henderson’s priority products, building relationships with key stakeholders across investments and distribution, and developing excellent writing and editing skills. A key part of the role will be to support the three existing senior investment writers. This will allow the successful candidate to build expertise around all Janus Henderson priority products. The role will mean versioning commentaries for key products, supporting with the production/publishing process and accompanying the existing team members to manager/analyst interviews.

With this foundational understanding in place, the writer will develop responsibilities for certain priority managers and start to generate and edit content accordingly. This will include thought pieces, commentaries, videos, podcasts and articles. The writer will help see content through from concept to completion, including interviewing managers and ensuring timely delivery.

The role would suit a candidate with strong writing skills, an eye for a story and a keen interest in investments. It will provide exposure to sales and marketing teams across the business to allow a holistic view of client needs and effective marketing techniques from across the business to be built. The role is intended to provide support for the existing team of senior investment writers and allow the successful candidate to hone their skills to, in time, move up to this level.

Duties and Responsibilities

- You will support senior investment writers in delivering insightful content to support Knowledge. Shared

- You will develop understanding of all target markets and tactics to increase client engagement

- You will version commentaries and support the sign off and publication process

- You will provide fact checking, copyediting and production support for articles, papers and core collateral across digital, print and non-U.S. versions of publications

- You will research data to develop charts and graphics

- You will develop interviewing and writing skills to in time move up to the level of senior investment writer

- You will understand compliance requirements across the various distribution channels and help ensure all requirements are met

- You will ensure familiarity with Janus Henderson’s financial promotions/literature principles and processes, as well as guidance from compliance. Ensure appropriate checks and sign off procedures are adhered to at all times

Technical Skills and Qualifications

  • Educated to degree level, with economics or similar relevant degree preferable

  • Excellent knowledge of investment writing

  • Journalism background preferred, ideally with a financial publication

  • Proficient in Word, Excel and Power Point. Familiarity with Bloomberg and In Copy idealCompetencies Required

  • A dynamic individual able to convert enthusiasm into deliverables

  • A good creative thinker. Able to challenge dogma and think outside of normal processes

  • A team player willing to get involved in all aspects of the business

  • A self-starter with excellent communication skills and attention to detail

  • A resourceful individual with the ability to research and data mine to create charts and exhibits that support stories

  • Strong planning and implementation skills
