Overview of the role

You will sell investment products over the telephone through one or more of the following intermediaries: brokerage firms, financial advisors/brokers, banks, and insurance companies. You will initiate and/or follow up on sales calls and provide intermediaries with sales ideas. You will answer product and service questions, provide performance data, identify new sales opportunities and help launch new products.

Duties and responsibilities

You will:

  • Initiate outbound sales telephone calls to clients and prospective clients to position, promote and sell Janus Henderson products and to communicate company updates, utilizing knowledge of company products in an effort to develop business. (45%)

  • Answer inbound calls to our advisor line to respond to inquiries, provide answers, support needs and identify selling opportunities and pass on to appropriate territory team. (5%)

  • Actively follow up with clients and prospective clients to provide sales ideas, answers product questions, provide performance data, identify new sales opportunities, and help launch new products. (20%)

  • Use client relationship management (CRM) database software applications and other departmental databases to track client interactions and the progression of each client relationship. (5%)

  • Support sales and client relationships by providing research material and administrative follow-up and support. (10%)

  • Generate sales ideas and identify new sales opportunities. (5%)

  • Travel with external wholesaler in the field on a limited basis for territory familiarity and professional development. (5%)

  • Attend and support client events or conferences as a Janus Henderson representative. (5%)

  • Carry out additional duties as assigned.

Technical skills and qualifications

  • B.S. or B.A. in related field preferred.

  • Educational expectations can be replaced with approximately two years of related experience and/or training in a client support or internal sales role and two years of experience in the mutual fund/financial services industry and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education, experience and training.

  • Series 7 and 63 licenses required within 30 days of hire.

Competencies required

In addition to putting clients first, acting like an owner, and succeeding as a team, the competencies for this role include:

  • Knowledge of mutual fund/financial industry products and services.

  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills with the ability to develop strategic business relationships.

  • Janus Henderson product knowledge is preferred.

  • Strong attention to detail and able to manage multiple tasks effectively.

  • High degree of self-motivation; able to work with little direct supervision.

  • Intermediate computer skills including MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint and experience with client relationship management (CRM) database software applications.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Ongoing competence in the role to be assessed, in line with applicable regulatory requirements, by:

  • Annual performance appraisal

  • Completion of all assigned compliance training

  • Annual attestation (Knowledge and Competence in-scope roles only)

Compliance requirements

At a minimum the role will require you to:

  • Place the interest of Janus Henderson’s Clients first, act in accordance with TCF (Treating Customers Fairly) principles

  • Understand and follow laws and regulations applicable for your role, seeking the help of your supervising manager or Compliance if additional guidance is required

  • Understand and abide by all Janus Henderson policies applicable to your role, and seek support/guidance of the policy owner guidance when required

  • You are ultimately accountable for your actions and responsible for seeking further information on any or all of the above as necessary.

Compensation Information

The base salary range for this position is $40,000 - $47,000. This range is estimated for this role. Actual pay may be different

Position is also eligible for monthly sales commission and a quarterly discretionary bonus. Monthly commissions are calculated as a percentage of individual gross sales. Quarterly discretionary bonus awards are funded by gross sales and allocated to individuals based on their performance.

Annual Bonus Opportunity: Position is eligible to receive an annual discretionary bonus award from the profit pool. The profit pool is funded based on Company profits. Individual bonuses are determined based on Company, department, team and individual performance.
