You will aid the team in supporting VMware, Citrix/Netscaler, disaster recovery (SRM), SCOM, and Cisco UCS server hardware. You will help select and migrate to a new primary storage platform. You could help implement Cohesity backup software, perform SAN zoning, upgrade ESXi servers, replace aging servers and deploy a new SCOM environment. You will improve PagerDuty on-call alerting and automate the SCCM deployment of Windows Server 2019. Additionally, you will replace branch office servers with Cisco VSAN nodes, improve disaster recovery systems, and move and consolidate datacenters.

Duties and Responsibilities

You will:

  • Lead strategic thinking on server and storage technologies within Janus Henderson and support the evolution of the Janus Henderson data protection strategy.

  • Administer the data backup environment meeting SLAs and adhering to policy and lead efforts that improve the quality and availability of the backup, server, storage, and virtualization systems.

  • Maintain a large VMware environment keeping physical hosts and VM servers up to date.

  • Close audit items as they are identified by the IT security team.

  • Deploy new servers and appliances as required and manage deployment automation PowerShell scripts.

  • Support Citrix, Netscaler, and MS MFA multifactor infrastructure.

  • Assist with migration to new storage platform.

  • Perform disaster recovery testing.

  • Create or contribute to teams that create application architecture artifacts, design frameworks, standards, and recommended practices.

  • Work closely with the enterprise architecture group and other multi-functional technology teams to develop policies and procedures related to the design, implementation, and support of identified storage, server, and virtualization platforms.

  • Actively identify potential issues or single points of failure and act quickly to mitigate and remove identified risks.

  • Complete work with minimal direction and guidance, conduct “root cause” analysis as necessary, perform monitoring, sponsor design improvements, identify risks associated with the evolving environment, and ensure appropriate resolution/restoration with minimal disruption in service.

  • Develop metrics to be reported to management.

  • Establish and maintain excellent working relationships with business contacts, IT, and vendors.

  • Liaise with business partners in all areas of the business in order to understand and document functional requirements, devise and propose solution options to support decision-making.

  • Monitoring systems and custom alerting escalation administration.

  • Assume additional duties as assigned.

Technical Skills and Qualifications

  • 5+ years of server and virtualization infrastructure administration experience in a large environment

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience is required

  • Microsoft Office skills, in particular Excel and Visio

  • Experience with cloud technologies (AWS & Azure)

  • Solid understanding of Windows 2012/2016 and RedHat/Linux server environments running on VMware

  • Experience analyzing existing systems environment to determine applicability, benefits, and drawbacks in support of new requirements

  • Knowledge of project management methodologies and facilitation techniques in order to lead efforts as necessary

  • Experience working with various types of service vendors

  • Strong knowledge of prevalent PC operating systems, networks, tools

  • Experience with ticketing systems
