Overview of the Role

Youwill support Front Office Business Systems, working with portfolio managers, traders, compliance officers and their support staff to understand, capture and refine workflows. You will work with data teams to ensure investment professionals are presented with accurate security master, position and lot level data.

Duties and Responsibilities

You will:

  • Have a basic understanding of Front Office Systems. Be able to demonstrate conceptual changes, present them and then implement them within a team Scrum.

  • Responsible for creation and maintenance of Epics and Stories on Jira.

  • Have a basic understanding of financial products used in Asset Management including Equities, Fixed Income and Derivatives.

  • Take a hands-on, methodical approach to identify and resolve issues.

  • Perform analysis and write requirements documents and user stories

  • Be able to work on your own initiative, be self-motivated and take on responsibility for solution delivery.

  • Liaise with the wider technology teams to coordinate interdependencies and resolve issues.

  • Produce quality test plans and work with Quality Assurance and users to participate in system and user testing.

  • Work within a delivery team by taking responsibility for changes assigned to you.

  • Manage risks and issues effectively with timely escalation to the Product Owner and Change delivery manager.

  • Support changes delivered during warranty period.

Technical Skills and Qualifications


  • Experience of the analysis process: from requirement gathering, capturing user stories, writing test cases / acceptance criteria, implementation and sign offs

  • Strong background in the financial industry, coupled with experience of the technologies used to support this function.

  • A delivery focussed approach and attitude

  • Work as part of a team dependant on the workloads

  • A basic understanding of the investment life cycle.

  • A strong, analytical mind, comfortable working on complex problems both on strategic and tactical level.

  • Self-starter with an ownership mentality.


  • Experience of working with Modelling, OMS, Trading and Compliance systems including expertise of Charles River.

  • Experience of implementing a new asset class in CRD end to end.

  • Experience of implementing Manager Workbench, Blotter configurations, workflow rules on latest versions of CRD.

  • Experience of a significant project within the asset management industry.

  • Experience of implementing change on trading systems, especially Fixed Income and OTC.

  • A solid appreciation of the securities and instruments used in modern fund management.

  • Experience of the typical infrastructure components and data architectures that support investment management systems.

  • Proficiency in SQL, sufficient to analyse data and investigate stored procedures written in Transact SQL.

  • An understanding of messaging technologies used for the communication of transactional data to 3rd parties.

  • Previous experience of implementing change within the front office. Agile experience is highly favourable but not essential.

Ongoing competence in the role to be assessed by:

  • Annual Performance Appraisal

  • Completion of all assigned Compliance training

Working Environment / Physical Activities.

  • Overtime and weekend hours may be required.

  • PC usage up to 100% of the time.

  • Office equipment such as telephone, fax machine, copier, etc.
