The department

Janus Henderson offers expertise across all major asset classes, with investment teams situated around the world. These dynamic teams are structured and operate in ways that are best suited to their asset classes and manage products designed to meet a range of investor needs globally. We do not impose top-down house views; instead we allow an appropriate level of flexibility within a controlled environment and encourage the sharing and debate of investment ideas. Our Investment teams are grouped under: Equities, Fixed Income, Multi-Assets and Alternatives.

Overview of the role

You will work under the general direction of Research Analysts covering the consumer sector. The position directly supports the analysts’ investment research process. Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to: the development and maintenance of financial models, survey construction/results interpretation, regulatory filing/conference call reviews, and other company / industry specific research and due diligence. The role may require a limited amount of travel.

Duties and responsibilities

You will:

  • Conduct research on key leverage points of companies, including conversation with management and industry experts.

  • Build and maintain a variety of excel based financial models (company, industry/sector, macro).

  • Collect industry and company data through a variety of channels, including sell-side research firms, internal and external databases, trade publications, web scraping, and other online sources.

  • Review and organize data, synthesize information, and help identify and analyze trends.

  • Independently exercise discretion in expanding assigned projects to improve the stock selection process. Applicant must be an engaging, highly ambitious self-starter.

  • Participate in the financials team meeting, company management meetings and general investment team meetings.

  • Carry out additional duties as assigned.

    Investment areas

    Has responsibility for supporting portfolios that are covered by the centralized equity research team.

    Technical skills and qualifications

  • Four-year degree in finance, economics, accounting, or related field preferred

  • 1-2 years of equity investment analyst experience

  • Ability to apply valuation tools to models such as ROIC, ROE and be confident around DCFs

  • Demonstrates intellectual curiosity, creativity, and analytical skills in areas of high complexity

  • Ability to analyze financial data as well as accumulate, organize and assimilate large amounts of information

  • Multitasking and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and coordinate multiple projects in a dynamic environment

  • Advanced computer skills. MS Excel experience required

  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills, including the ability to probe for details

    Compensation Information

    The base salary range for this position is $85,000-$115,000. This range is estimated for this role. Actual pay may be different.

    Annual Bonus Opportunity: Position is eligible to receive an annual discretionary bonus award from the profit pool. The profit pool is funded based on Company profits. Individual bonuses are determined based on Company, department, team and individual performance.
